Autumn is upon us and the nights are drawing in.  Halloween is the perfect excuse to put on your spooky costume and have some frightul fun!

There will be lots of Halloween fun in Nottinghamshire in 2017, with events for the whole family, including scary activities, haunted walks, pumpkin carving and Halloween happenings at many of Nottingham's top venues and attractions.

21st to 29th October:  
Halloween Festival
at White Post Farm

An interactive theatre show, the chance to learn to fly a broom and make potions, take part in Halloween crafts and get lost in the Haunted House!  There will also be birds of prey and Super-Sam the Entertainer, as well as all the usual friendly animals to meet and feed.

21st October to 5th November: 
Spooky Halloween Terror Trail
at Rufford Abbey

Explore the haunted hideaways, creepy woods and hidden terrors.  The trail is self-led and can be bought from Visitor reception daily from 10.30 am to 4.00 pm. 

Trails cost £1 and you'll receive a prize if you survive!

21st October to 5th November:
at Nottingham Contemporary

Take the family on an American adventure this half-term.  Travel coast to coast and fill their giant roadmap with your favourites sights along the way - make buildings and billboards, cityscapes and landmarks.

UK's Biggest Ghost Train in Nottingham's Market Square

There's some gruesome fun to be had in the Market Square this week, with the biggest ghost train, a haunted house, electric chair, a bar to have a stiff drink and pumpkin carving.

at Pit and Pendulum, Nottingham

Prepare for scares galore at the Pit and Pendulum this Halloween, with live music, fire performers, ghoulish cocktails, makeup artists and more. 

28th and 29th October:
Big Trick or Treat
at intu Victoria Centre

Kids can dress up and get their face painted for free and take part in a hunt for treats in the shopping centre.

Grab your pumpkin bucket and look out for pumpkin stickers in the windows of the shops and restaurants who will be giving out treats.

Superhero Weekend
at Great Central Railway


Welcome to the super hero Grand train.  Come dressed as your favourite super hero character.  Feel the excitement on the real steam train as Batman spiderman and joker battle it out.  Interact with meet and greet on the train as ironman and captain american escort you after you steam ride to the bouncy castle world and funfair rides ...

The Visited Folk
at Brewhouse Yard in Nottingham

In 1349, the Black Death visitation killed an estimated 1000 people in Nottingham. As more people died of disease, bodies were hurriedly buried and fear undoubtedly spread.  To prevent the spread of the disease, caves cut into the rock beneath the Castle were used to isolate those who became known as the Visited Folk.  Join archaeologist Scott Lomax and explore the caves they once inhabited.

Tours will take place at various times.  Tickets cost £6 and include Museum entry. 

29th October:
King Arthur Crafts
at Lakeside Arts

Decorate a sword and/or a shield to take away and recreate your own version of the play King Arthur. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Time:  1.30 pm to 2.30 pm

28th and 29th October:
Halloween Spooktacular
at Creswell Crags

Join the team at Creswell Crags for a ghostly walk around the site, followed by spooky stories with toasted marshmallows around the fire pit at dusk. Halloween fancy dress competition, and Halloween themed treats available from the café. Horse and carriage rides throughout the day.

Opens at 10:00am, followed by a fancy dress competition at 3.00 pm, marshmallow toasting at 1pm to 4pm, and a ghostly walk through the woodland and meadow at 5:45!

Cost:  Carriage Rides - £3 per person (11am to 3pm)
           Lantern Making - £3
           Marshmallow Toasting and Spooky Stories - 50p per marshmallow
           Ghost Walk around the meadow - £4pp or £15 per family

From 5.30pm Halloween stories and lantern walk from Rumbles Café.

Expect Halloween tales of scary deeds on the ghostliest weekend of the year. Keep your eyes open for ghouls, witches and hags as you hear tales of the creatures that live in the shadows.

Join us for a lantern walk and storytelling performances as Lord George and Lady Esmerelda reveal the dark secrets of All Hallows Eve.

Make your way down to the spooky woodland to a small clearing in the trees with log benches and bubbling cauldrons. Once settled the Wicked Witch will appear before you and regale a spooky tale or two around the crakling fire.  For Ages 12+.

31st October:
Halloween: Ferocious feast - Stories to hear after dark at Lakeside Arts

In the dark, dark woods at night families will have the chance to hear some stories, cruel and vile; tales of treachery and lies, of broken hearts and broken lives.  Ages 14+.

Basement of Horror
at Bierkeller, Nottingham

Are you brave enough to enter Bierkeller's Basement of Horror?

Free entry all night, with steins costing £4 all night and prizes for the best fancy dress.
