Nottingham Castle

Welcome to Nottingham Castle - a magnificent 17th century Ducal mansion built on the site of the original Medieval Castle, with spectacular views across the city. 

A vibrant museum and art gallery housing collections of silver, glass, armour and paintings, plus fifteen centuries of Nottingham history. The galleries also bring the best regional, national and international artist's work to the city.
Nottingham Castle is 10 minutes walk from Nottingham City centre, with easy access from train and bus stations. Parking is close by in one of many public carparks.

The Castle is a great place for children, with interactive displays,and an activity - led gallery bringing paintings to life, specifically for the under 5s plus a medieval - style playground in the grounds with covered picnic area.

Summer Fun Weekend at Nottingham Castle
8th and 9th August 2009

A fun-packed weekend of FREE children's activities at Nottingham Castle:

Hunt for Heroes (8th)
Collect a map when you enter the Castle and go on a quest around the Castle grounds to find all ten heroes.  Bring a pen and mark all their hiding places on the map to receive your Quest Sticker and your Quest Seeker's certificate from the City's own here - Robin Hood!

Time:  11.00 am to 5.00 pm

Incredible Journeys (8th)
Family friendly arts activity for everyone!  Join the Nottingham Contemporary team and make imaginative journeys around the city with the help of their giant play map.

Time:  11.00 am to 5.00 pm

Outdoor Theatre:  Leap of Faith (9th)
Join the Hoodwink Theatre Company in their quest to fly.  The exciting celebration involves paper wings, balloons, feathers and even flying monks.  Featuring music and extraordinary visual effects to provide an uplifting comedy show for all ages.

Time:  1.30 pm

Johnny and the Raindrops on Tour (8th and 9th)
Musical event for all children, when Johnny and the Raindrops bring you some of their best songs.

Time:  8th - 1.30 pm, 2.30 pm and 3.30 pm
            9th - 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm

Fun Play Activities
Join Nottingham's Play Development Team for fun packed activities all day long.

Time:  8th - 11.00 am to 5.00 pm
            9th - 11.00 am to 3.00 pm
