18 & 19 Feb 2012: Mind, Body and Spirit Fair
18th and 19th February 2012
This is our 10th year of visiting Newark on a bi-annual basis and the show has become so popular that both the Spring and Autumn ones are the first two to fill up with exhibitor bookings each year! This year was no exception and we are delighted that the show has a wonderful mix of familiar faces and new exhibitors to delight the visitors.
78 stands!
In order to get the usual mix of therapy, readers and retail therapy and in order to get to produce a really exciting show, we fit in as many exhibitors in to the show as the space allows. The end result is colourful, vibrant and akin to the buzz of an Eastern market, but with the comforts of thick carpet underfoot and a relaxing marquee in which to get a cuppa!
The staff of the Cedric Ford Pavilion are in charge of the catering in the adjoining marquee, which is attached by a tunnel to the far left corner of the exhibition hall. This meand more room for stands, but just as importantly, more room for people to sit down with food or drink. The usual fayre on offer includes two or three hot meal choices, together with sandwiches, cake and snacks. On Sunday's, there is often a 'mini-carvery' lunch which is very popular.
The only downside for us is that the Pavilion has not fitted a lift to the upstairs floor, so there is no disabled access to the talks and workshops. We hope this will be something they address in the very near future, but for now, we wish to make that clear to avoid any disappointment.
The show has all the usual BSSK attractions - Zone of Tranquillity, a relaxing space to sit and reflect, the free Children's Angel Feather Hunt with a prize for every child, and the free prize draw for every paying adult - click here to see the one for this show. Previous winners are listed here on the website. This is drawn at 4pm on the Sunday of the show - don't worry if you are not on site, we ring and notify the winner!
Hope you can join us for the first show of our 10th year at Newark!

Review title : Good day out for the whole family, added by : Lisa (17/10/2011)

"We took our 2 young children and our dog to this event and had a great time.
Most of the stalls and attractions were outside, so we were lucky that the weather was good but there were indoor pavillions as well, so it wouldn't have been a disaster if it had rained. There was so much to see and do that we struggled to get around everything! As well as stalls selling country gear - hats, coats, wellies etc - at very reasonable prices, there were lots of pet-related items for sale. A real bonus was being able to go somewhere that we could take the dog for the day.
There were plenty of things for the whole family to see and do and we all had a great day, as well as plenty to eat!
Highly recommended day out.

"Being a lucky winner of two tickets to the Garden Show, courtesy of this website, a friend and I set off for the Newarke Show ground intending to make the most of the day. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get there - although we did try to get in the entrance we usually use when we go to the Antiques and Collectors Fairs, which was shut, but we easily got to the right one.
We were greeted by live music from a trio playing Jazz and were given free tickets to another event coming up later in the year, teabags, sweetners and a breakfast cereal!
The layout was good and easily walked around in a couple of hours; we were spoilt for choice for tasty snacks (we tried the Lincolnshire footlong sausage baguette - wonderful). We browsed around the stalls and displays, bought the odd plant or two (and had to return to the car to off-load shopping and start again). One slight quibble in that the stamp that you get when you go out of the grounds and want to come back in again, said Antique - we tried not to take it personally.
We were fortunate that the weather was very kind to us and the stallholders ; we loved the exotic bird stand, had to stop for a very tasty cup cake, tried cheeses, sausages, baklava and other wonderful delights.
It was a really nice day out, the sort that we would have happily bought tickets for, and the carparking is free. Forget the crowded NECand their extortionate parking charges, come to the Newark Garden Show instead and have the time to actually be able to look at/get near everything.
Thanks, we will definately be back"
