Manor Farm and Woodlands

We thought that "Animal Centre & Donkey Sanctuary" didn't say enough about all the great things there are to do at Manor Farm, so we have changed our name and logo.

We still have the delightful donkeys as well as so many other wonderful animals - most of them rescued - and, of course, one of the largest collections of owls from around the World – you can even hold one!

Our indoor and outdoor play areas offer something for everyone in all weathers. Enjoy our Young Farmers’ Play Barn and Fort Adventure Play Area.  Explore our living willow structures, picnic and toddler play areas, pond dipping and nature trail - all in a lake and woodland setting.  Or take a moment or two to relax in the Gallery Tea rooms – around the roaring log fire when cold.

Clean, well managed paths provide access for all, including wheelchairs and buggies.

Since opening to the public in 1994 we have developed child-focussed activities and facilities to encourage and build youngsters’ understanding of the natural world around them. Although not a working farm, we offer children (and their families) a chance to meet animals, find out ‘where eggs come from’, see the differences between donkeys and horses, ducklings and chicks, etc.

The majority of our animals have either been rescued from certain death or donated to us by owners who found themselves in a position where they could no longer provide the best care for their animals.lucky few have actually been born here on the farm.

As animals age, so their health and welfare costs increase.  Unlike a commercial farm we do not put a value on an individual animal and we will search high and low to find the right treatment.  As a result, we have a fund of special stories about our animals - including the blind goose; the time the turkey contracted pneumonia; the goat with no teeth left!  All our animals are very carefully monitored to ensure that they are enjoying a good quality of life.

THIS IS A PAST EVENT

Festive Family Fun

Weekends throughout December 2009

Yes, its that time of year again, and we are having even more festive fun than usual this year, with special events on every weekend in December starting with the Wonderful Winter Woodland Extravaganza

Santa arrives at Manor Farm at 11:30am on Saturday 5th December to lead the procession to his tipi in the woods to meet the children in the afternoon.  He will be with us every weekend right up to 20th December.  On the first weekend (5 & 6 Dec) there will be Christmas Crafts to make whilst you are waiting to meet Santa and a chance to make your own toast and hot apple juice or hot chocolate on our open fire in the woods.

The following 2 weekends (12 & 13 and 19 & 20 Dec) there will be Craft Activities in the Red Room (in the Play Barn) with Santa meeting the children in his magical grotto.

The Main Event for Christmas is our much loved traditional Nativity Play with songs for the children and Christmas Carols.  Some of our wonderful animals take centre stage.  Mary rides in on a donkey, the shepherds have real sheep, and the Kings have their camels - well llamas really, but thats pretty close!

Our animals always like to dress up for the festivities and be admired, so look out for Mr & Mrs Claus, the reingoats and the Christmas fairies, plus anyone else who can get in on the act.

As a special offer this Christmas you can download and print a voucher to admit 4 persons for just £20, saving up to £4 on the normal admission for these 3 weekend events in December 2009.
