Walks and Talks

Beeston Wildlife Group is one of the local groups of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. Much of their attention is focused on the activities and events at Attenborough Nature Reserve.

Talks

Talks are held every month from September to April at Trent Vale Infant School, Trent Road, Beeston Rylands, Nottinghamshire NG9 1LP.

Time: Talks start at 7.30pm until 9.30pm.
Cost: Admission is £2 which includes refreshments.

ALL WELCOME

The next talk will be held on 18th January 2010. Namibia - Phil Palmer described Namibia as “One of the best places in Africa to see game”. With 114 species of mammal and hundreds of birds in diverse habitats from Etosha to the Skeleton Court, this promies to be an unrivalled African experience.

"Attenborough Nature Reserve is a wonderful place to go for a short walk, a long ramble or just a cup of coffee and a cake overlooking one of the lakes. Everytime I visit I notice something different. My favourite walk is along the trent and then back through the ponds and a quick visit into Attenborough village to see the church. A firm favourite that will not fail to impress. Car park gets very busy at a weekend"

"I really enjoyed going to this place with my auntie and cousin and some friends. We had a great time in and outdoors.
The staff were really nice and pleasent. The swans were really friendly and you could get really close to them without being bitten. The park was beautiful and litter free. All the people there were really nice. I would defenitly reccomened this place for familys to have a pleasent day out."

"Really enjoyed our recent outing to Attenborough Nature Reserve. Lots of nice walks and wildlife and the new Nature Centre is comfortable, warm and has activities for the kids to enjoy, while you can sit and relax and look at the beautiful scenary outside.

Educational, healthy and a great place for adults and kids alike. The cafe is good too, which a wide range of snacks and drinks."

"Jake (aged 3) and myself took a trip to Attenborough earlier this year. We had heard that the new visitor centre was good and thought we would check it out.

We had a lovely walk down through the nature reserve and saw lots of wildlife, including some rescued horses. Then we went back to the visitor centre for something to eat and drink and a quick look at the shop.

I had a cup of tea and absolutely delicious flapjack and Jake had a carton of apple juice. It wasn't cheap but nor extortionate pricewise. While I had a rest and admired the wonderful view from the cafe, Jake played with some of the nature related puzzles and games that were there for the kids.

We bought some food for the ducks, swans and other waterfowl that were in abundence near the visitor centre and Jake had a very close encounter with a rather large swan, who kept trying to grab the bag of food out of his hand!

This is a nice, educational (but not boring) place to take the kids and you can spend as much or as little as you like. We didn't walk very far but I think there are plenty of places to venture if you are feeling a bit more energetic."
