Opened in 2000 by Olympic Champion Jayne Torvill, the £43 million National Ice Centre was the first twin Olympic-sized (60m x 30m) ice rink facility in the UK.

Situated in the city’s fashionable Lace Market, the NIC is just a short stroll from the Old Market Square and provides top class facilities and coaching staff for a whole range of ice sports from Free Skating and Ice Dance to Synchronized Skating, Ice Hockey and Short Track Speed Skating. The Nottingham Panthers also train here and use the venue for their home games.

The National Ice Centre is also the home of Trent FM Arena Nottingham – East Midlands hottest concert venue hosting the very best live music & sporting events to audiences up to 10,000.

Session Types

General
A relaxed environment to develop your skating. These sessions are popular with all skaters of all ages and abilities.

Beginners
These beginner sessions are perfect for skaters just starting out or wanting to become more confident on the ice. With qualified coaching assistants on hand for the first hour, this is the best place to learn. Monday evening sessions include a cross ice barrier where one third of the ice is cordoned off for training and lessons.

Families
These sessions have a chilled atmosphere, perfect for the whole family. The pace is relaxed and slow to help build up the confidence of every member of your group in a safe environment. Toys are available subject to capacity & availability and are suitable for U5’s who must be accompanied at all times by an adult – please enquire at Box Office prior to purchasing your tickets.

Disco
Get ready to party! The disco lights are on and the music is pumping in these sessions which are great for all ages.

Parent & Toddler
Children aged between 18 months and five years can take part, with sessions aimed at building confidence and co-ordination whilst having fun with toys on the ice.

Heart Wednesday
Enjoy more music variety from radio station Heart 106. Join us for an evening of music and skating with the lights turned down and the feel good factor turned up!
