27 and 27 Nov 11: Used Tackle Show
26th to 27th November 2011
The biggest show in Used Tackle’s 2011 Tour takes place at the Newark Showground this weekend with over £1 million worth of rods, poles, baits and accessories sold off at bargain prices. Staged inside the massive George Stephenson Exhibition Hall at the Notts complex, there are over 10,000 anglers expected to attend over the two days – and no one will go home without a money-saving deal on new gear.
Used Tackle’s Newark show is the biggest of the year and that means there will be loads of gear on sale, with everything from £10 rods and reels to big brand name carp kit at massively reduced prices. There will also be some serious one-off deals on limited products at the show. Organiser Roger Surgay plans to clear some big brand stock from his tackle shops, including poles, baits, and carp gear.
What's at the Newark Show?
Over 100m long and 24m wide, the exhibition hall will be packed to the rafters with the best deals. Biggest-ever Pole Alley: For the first time at Newark, Pole Alley will double in size to show off the whole range of Avanti’s poles, plus MAP’s TKS range being sold at the UK’s guaranteed lowest prices.
This will be your chance to try out the impressive, £200 Avanti Hyperactive 16m – and save £800 on the full RRP – and the Hyperactive Margin pole for £30. You’ll also be able to get your hands on the Avanti Stand & Deliver 14.5m with eight top kits for just £300, and pick up an 11m pole for just £30!
Match accessories: From seatboxes with back rests for £40 to front bump bars, universal side trays, and elastication packs, the match accessory section will be huge at Newark this weekend. Every accessory you’ll need for the season – hooks, line, shot, feeders, floats – will be at silly prices, plus you’ll be able to get a £60 commercial carp net for just £10, while stocks last!
Carp clearout: Whether you’re looking for a long session, four seasons bivvy or a quick-erect day trip shelter, the carp section will have just what you need. This is the place to head for to see all Carp Kinetic’s latest carp rod pods, chairs, bedchairs, luggage, ready-rod sleeves and alarm sets. One of the best deals on offer will be a set of wireless alarms with receiver for £100.
Massive bait section: Show organisers have put more space aside for bait this year, and plan to pile it high and sell it all. The entire Feeding Frenzy range – with prices starting at £1 a tub – will be on show, along with pellets, groundbaits, tins, flavours, and buckets of baits from big brand bait firms.
Man on the Mic: Used Tackle boss Roger Surgay will be starting his Man on the Mic tackle auction just after 9am on both days and this will be your opportunity to get your hands on some unique deals. Get there early to grab the best bargains.
Top dealers: Along with Used Tackle, the UK’s biggest tackle shop chain Fishing Republic and the famous Vale Royal Angling will be there too.
Time: Doors open at 9am and close at 3pm Parking: Free Facilities: On site catering

Review title : Good day out for the whole family, added by : Lisa (17/10/2011)
Event reviewed : 15-16 Oct: The Robin Hood Game and Country Show
"We took our 2 young children and our dog to this event and had a great time.
Most of the stalls and attractions were outside, so we were lucky that the weather was good but there were indoor pavillions as well, so it wouldn't have been a disaster if it had rained. There was so much to see and do that we struggled to get around everything! As well as stalls selling country gear - hats, coats, wellies etc - at very reasonable prices, there were lots of pet-related items for sale. A real bonus was being able to go somewhere that we could take the dog for the day.
There were plenty of things for the whole family to see and do and we all had a great day, as well as plenty to eat!
Highly recommended day out.

Event reviewed : 20th - 22nd April 2012: Newark Garden Show
"Being a lucky winner of two tickets to the Garden Show, courtesy of this website, a friend and I set off for the Newarke Show ground intending to make the most of the day. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get there - although we did try to get in the entrance we usually use when we go to the Antiques and Collectors Fairs, which was shut, but we easily got to the right one.
We were greeted by live music from a trio playing Jazz and were given free tickets to another event coming up later in the year, teabags, sweetners and a breakfast cereal!
The layout was good and easily walked around in a couple of hours; we were spoilt for choice for tasty snacks (we tried the Lincolnshire footlong sausage baguette - wonderful). We browsed around the stalls and displays, bought the odd plant or two (and had to return to the car to off-load shopping and start again). One slight quibble in that the stamp that you get when you go out of the grounds and want to come back in again, said Antique - we tried not to take it personally.
We were fortunate that the weather was very kind to us and the stallholders ; we loved the exotic bird stand, had to stop for a very tasty cup cake, tried cheeses, sausages, baklava and other wonderful delights.
It was a really nice day out, the sort that we would have happily bought tickets for, and the carparking is free. Forget the crowded NECand their extortionate parking charges, come to the Newark Garden Show instead and have the time to actually be able to look at/get near everything.
Thanks, we will definately be back"
