21st to 23rd June 2012

Night of Festivals 2012 will take place from 21-23 June 2012 with a focused hub of activity in the special surroundings of Nottingham’s Old Market Square – the largest open public square in the UK.

The wonderful environment of the Square will be embellished with extraordinary new installations (including the world’s smallest moving image gallery, the ArtReach Nanoplex), a large scale live music stage and Big Screen.

Friday 22 June is Night of Festivals 2012:Carnival Day.

One key highlight of the event is the WORLD PREMIERE of a new, short film, WITNESSES, by international film maker/composer MICHAEL NYMAN. See this premiere FREE in OLD MARKET SQUARE at 9.30pm on Thursday 21 June – introduced live by Michael Nyman himself.

Time: 11.00 am to 1.30 pm

"I just wanted to say that Nottingham's Market Square is brilliant! I sat in the square today for an hour watching people having fun in the water, it was peaceful and relaxing and to top it off a duck landed in the water much to everyone’s delight.There was a Muller Rice stand in the square and they were giving away free cartons of Muller rice!"

"How nice that Nottingham gets its act together to celebrate St George's day so well.
The Parede was great, the music was superb and the stalls were good. To top it off, we finally had a go on the big wheel: fantastic!"

Event reviewed : Ice Skating

"Try the ice skating in the Market square, it is great fun! I took my son during the week and we just about had the whole rink to ourselves!I had not skated for many years but managed to have some fun without falling over, the staff made sure my son had a great time and took him for a great time flying around in a car.Highly recommend it for a fun experience."
