Bullying isn’t simply physical. Kids often use words to humiliate a vulnerable child or encourage the group to isolate or reject other kids. Bullying happens when someone repeatedly targets another child who does not have the ability to defend him or herself. That is why many educators and mental health professionals refer to bullying as harassment
Technological advances in communication present new opportunities for bullying through emails, instant or text messaging and chat rooms. Both boys and girls can be targets of physical and non-physical humiliation or rejection. Girls, in particular, may be victimized by rumors, sexual comments or social exclusion.
The Shudokan Black Belt Academy is teaching a tactical communication system that empowers adults and young people alike to deal with this form of harrasment in a practical and effective way. Aikido Nottingham can help you.
SHUDOKAN BLACK BELT ACADEMY, an Aikido school in Nottingham has a verbal self defense program we call Winning with Words.
Our program will teach your child
We were wrong when we used to tell victims of bullying to “just ignore” the bully. This philosophy only served to embolden the Bully.
Winning with Words will teach your child how to create
- Anger Guards – to identify what makes him angry
- Word Blocks – to defend himself with assertive words
- Verbal Counters that de-escalate confrontations
The program at Shudokan Black Belt Academy teaches children and adults both physical self defense techniques and what we call “Mental Self Defense”.
Our program helps children to develop:
- Self confidence
- Self Control
- Better attitude at home
- Improved motivation at school
