National Ice Centre

The National Ice Centre (NIC) is the UK’s first twin ice pad facility and centre of excellence for Ice Sports. The NIC comprises of two Olympic size ice rinks, (one of which is located in the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham). The biggest ice sports store in the UK, Ice Locker, is also situated here.

The NIC is used as a training base by many of Great Britain’s bright young skaters. It is home to the GB Short Track Speed Skating Squad and the oldest and most successful ice hockey team in the country, the GMB Nottingham Panthers.

There are a range of ice skating sessions on offer to suit all ages and abilities every day, from quieter family or toddler sessions to disco sessions and theme parties.

Parent and toddler skating

For children aged 18 months to 5 years who are new to skating

Parent & Toddler skating sessions are a great family activity to enjoy with your little ones.

We have dedicated coaches on the ice during these sessions, so children can take to the ice, build their confidence and increase their co-ordination safely. A range of fun on-ice equipment characters are also available to help your child as they take their first steps on the ice!

For just £6.50 you’ll have access to a 30 minute session for you and one child under the age of five. Skate hire is included in the price and a range of on-ice equipment characters are available for the duration of the session, subject to availability. The sessions take place on a private section of ice during public skating sessions.

Spaces fill up fast and on-ice equipment is available on a first come first serve basis, so we recommend booking this session in advance online or via the box office on 0843 373 3000.

£6.50 for one parent and one child under the age of five. Price includes skate hire for both.  Price includes a piece of on-ice equipment for the child.

An additional adult for this session is priced £6.50 / additional child £3.50.

Once your 30 minutes Parent & Toddler session has ended, you are welcome to skate on the public skating session with your child and piece of on-ice equipment. Please note that due to size, the cars cannot be used during the public skating session.
