Harvey Hadden

Named after a local entrepreneur, Harvey Hadden Stadium was opened in 1956.  New facilities were developed over the years including the addition of football pitches within the park and in the 1970s a covered stand was built to improve spectator comfort.  The modern sports centre was added in 1990 to complement the outdoor facilities and opened in time to host the Volleyball Competition for the World Student Games.

Due to the size and flexibility of the facilities both outdoor and indoor, Harvey Hadden has become renowned for hosting major national and international events, including the 2008 European Cerebral Palsy Athletics Championships, The English Schools Athletics Championships (the largest junior athletics meeting in the country), as well as karate competitions and football tournaments. We also host dog Shows, collectors fairs, exhibitions and conventions throughout the year.

Useful Information

Parents must attend with their child the first time they take part in a 50p session to register their child on the scheme.

All children must arrive in clothes which they can easily move around in, they must also bring swim wear and a towel every day.

Children need to bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink.  At Harvey Hadden, Clifton and Southglade hot and cold food can be bought and a special school holiday price of £2 for hot or cold options is available.

Supporting children with a disability to take part

We are keen to encourage and include more young people with a disability into mainstream activities so they can enjoy a positive and fun experience in their chosen sport or physical activity.  We hope to inspire young people to try new sports and enjoy the social aspect of making new friends.

If your child has a disability and/or additional needs and they would like to take part in any of the activity programmes then please do get in touch.  We will be only too pleased to discuss your child's needs, and determine with you the level of support they'll need to get the most out of the activities.

Our sports coaches, leaders and dedicated 'support buddies' will be available to support your child during the activities and will ensure they have a great experience on any of the holiday activities programmes.  Please give us a call for further details.
