Lakeside, the University of Nottingham’s public arts centre, has established an enviable reputation for its year round programme of high quality exhibitions, music, theatre, dance, comedy and participatory events, appealing to audiences from across the region. Lakeside’s work with children and young people - including 3 youth theatre groups, summer schools, and regular Sunday Best theatre provision - has gained enormously in popularity and regularly attracts capacity audiences.
In addition, Lakeside promotes a number of eagerly anticipated annual events including Chinese New Year celebrations, the International Children’s Theatre and Dance Festival, and LUSTRE - the Midlands premier contemporary craft makers’ market. It is also a partner in the delivery of other national and regionally significant events including NOTTDANCE and Theatre Writing Partnership’s Momentum Festival.
Conveniently located on the University Park campus Lakeside houses two excellent cafes, Café L which serves homemade sandwiches, cakes, hot food and drink and Aqua, a bistro and delhi-bar serving speciality coffees, flavoured teas, wines and beers as well as sandwiches and paninis.

Tall Stories & Network of Stuff bring you: Them With Frozen Tails at the Lakeside Arts Centre
Two unlikely tales - and one impossible one...
Take two funny chaps, some arctic animals and a touch of frost. Add an improbable, an impossible and a seasonal tale - one created live from audience suggestions in a hilarious act of on-thespot invention. The result? A side splitting, utterly festive alternative to pantomime for all the family. Celebrated children's theatre company Tall Stories are behind the international success of the stage adaptation of The Gruffalo, which continues its sell-out tour after West End and Broadway runs. The company's unique brand of physical storytelling theatre has taken them world-wide, but now they're back at Lakeside and working alongside the fabulous Network of Stuff to delight and entertain people of all ages!
This performance has been recommended for age 5+ and has been co-commissioned by Brighton Dome and the Roundhouse

"When you take two children under 6 to a performance, you never quite know what reaction you are going to get. However, I have to say with all honesty that I have never seen my son laugh so much at the antics of two people as I did today.
Them with Frozen Tails is a partly-improvised series of stories from around the World, narrated and acted by two very fine actors. There was singing and lots of energy and humour (some of which went over the kids' heads but was appreciated by the adults!)
There was plenty of audience participation and, I think it's safe to say, that the show was enjoyed by everyone there.
I would absolutely recommend this show, either as an alternative to the usual pantomime or, because its very good value for money at £7 per person, or as well. We will definitely be back for more if the show returns next year."
