Revolution in the Harley Craft Shop
We want you! Are you in heaven if it’s handmade, and crackers about craft? Tired of mass production, mass market and mass profit corporations?

Join the craft revolution!

The Harley Gallery Craft Shop is being hijacked by Hannah Obee, curator at Chatsworth. A focus on the Royalist and Baroque styles of the 17th century, looking at the Glorious Revolution and the Civil War of this period.
This display of contemporary craft is inspired by Welbeck’s Portland Collection and Chatsworth’s Devonshire Collection.See how craft fits into the rich history of these stately homes.
The Cavendish family heroes and heroines include Lady Jane Cavendish, who was left in charge to defend the Welbeck Estate against the parliamentary army. Local legends say that she buried the treasured family silver in the grounds to save it from the approaching troops.
Become a craft hero or heroine. Buy contemporary craft that will stand the test of time and add to, or start, your own collection – but we can’t recommend burying it the garden.

The Curated Craft Shop project at The Harley Gallery is part of museumaker, a prestigious national project involving sixteen museums across four participating regions. museumaker is supported by Arts Council England (ACE), Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) and its Renaissance Programme
