26 June: Music for Midsummer

26th June 2011

Our Music for Midsummer event is a whole musical afternoon built around a major concert starting at 3.30pm.  It’s packed with variety and with so many FREE Midsummer extras on offer there’s bound to be something YOU will enjoy.

Treat yourself to a cream tea and choose from orchestras, choirs, jazz bands and strings, indoors and outdoors, fun performances and exciting classical music experiences – all in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Midsummer outdoors ...

Open-air live music at Nottingham’s vibrant Sky Mirror Plaza

12.15pm     Swing Band
2.45pm     Nottingham Youth Band and Boys’ Voices
4.15pm     Morris Dancers

Midsummer indoors ...

Concerts in the city’s historic Albert Hall ;

2.00pm - Midsummer Music Making - A free concert featuring Music for Everyone’s community groups: Daytime Voices, BTD Orchestra and Nottingham Girls’ Voices

3.30pm - Music for Midsummer - Over 200 singers and instrumentalists present a sparkling concert of English greats, including Blest Pair of Sirens as featured during the signing of the register at the Royal Wedding!

4.15pm - Interval - Cream teas available. Morris Dancers in the Sky Mirror Plaza

Find classical performances a bit ‘stuffy’ sometimes? These won’t be! They’re inspired by the Proms in London’s Albert Hall, with a wonderful variety of appealing music and an informal atmosphere – choose a traditional seat or go for the Prom area where you can stand, sit or even lie down (bring a cushion if you like!).
