Born in Hong Kong Suet Yi grew up in a city crowded with buildings and people and dreamt of living in a quiet place close to lakes and hills and her ceramic work delicately reflects this. After being selected for Young Meteors at Lustre 2012, we are pleased to showcase Suet Yi’s exquisite ceramics and creatures.

This is the first major exhibition for over twenty-five years of the work of Edward Burra (1905-1976), providing the opportunity to reassess one of the most individual and celebrated British artists of the twentieth century and his fantastic watercolours of 1930s Harlem, Boston nightlife and jazz-infused scenes.

Sonya Viney’s work explores the notion of ‘still life’ within the medium of craft. Her work is inspired by multiples and repetition, whether it be the accumulation of everyday objects inside a kitchen cupboard or an ordered display in a museum.

In a series of sculptural and textile investigations, the artist explores the notion of inherited value systems and of ‘traditional’ acts of ritual and ceremony from the perspective of his Pakistani and Muslim heritage, and more specifically from his marginalised identity as a British-born gay man.
