BURRAESQUE - FROM LIFE MODEL TO SURREALIST FIGURE
Cost: £40 (£30 concession) Time: 10am - 4pm
Visual Arts Workshop
Adults and young people 16+
Edward Burra was fascinated by the hedonism of the American jazz scene - the musicians, dancers and prostitutes - and created surreal interpretations of midtwentieth century life in Britain and abroad. To get in touch with the essence of this individualistic artist’s work, artist Yelena Popova will be exploring Burra’s motto ‘always join the minority’.
You’ll be working from a life model (clothed) using drawing and lino printing to explore the question ‘who is in the minority now?’, following an inspiration-seeking tour of the exhibition.

Review title : Them with Frozen Tails, added by : Lisa (21/12/2010)
Event reviewed : 4-30 Dec: Them With Frozen Tails
"When you take two children under 6 to a performance, you never quite know what reaction you are going to get. However, I have to say with all honesty that I have never seen my son laugh so much at the antics of two people as I did today.
Them with Frozen Tails is a partly-improvised series of stories from around the World, narrated and acted by two very fine actors. There was singing and lots of energy and humour (some of which went over the kids' heads but was appreciated by the adults!)
There was plenty of audience participation and, I think it's safe to say, that the show was enjoyed by everyone there.
I would absolutely recommend this show, either as an alternative to the usual pantomime or, because its very good value for money at £7 per person, or as well. We will definitely be back for more if the show returns next year."
