Opened in 2000 by Olympic Champion Jayne Torvill, the £43 million National Ice Centre was the first twin Olympic-sized (60m x 30m) ice rink facility in the UK.
The National Ice Centre is also the home of Capital FM Arena Nottingham – East Midlands hottest concert venue hosting the very best live music & sporting events to audiences up to 10,000.
Session Information
Ice skating is a cool experience whatever your age or ability and where better to give it a go than at the National Ice Centre – the UK’s centre for excellence for ice sports. There are a range of ice skating sessions on offer to suit all ages and abilities.
Parent and Toddler Sessions
Children aged between 18 months and five years can take part, with sessions aimed at building confidence and co-ordination whilst having fun with toys on the ice. These run on Mondays and Wednesdays 1.15 – 1.45pm and Sundays 10 – 10.45, with access to the remaining public session. We recommend that you arrive 20mins prior to the session you are attending.
Club Night
Friday night is our Club Night – tasty beats, resident and guest DJs, neon lights and strobes
R&B Night
If you love your R&B vibes then the National Ice Centre is the place to be on a Wednesday night.
Socialice
A fantastic session especially for adults, taking place between 10-11.30am on a Tuesday and Thursday when we have two ice pads in operation (see ice schedule for information). This will give over 18’s the chance to have a relaxed skate, sharpen their skills and meet up with friends.

Christmas at the National Ice Centre - bringing the magic indoors!
Fancy trying a Christmas activity that gives you that warm fuzzy festive feel? Well we can help! The National Ice Centre isn't running an outdoor ice rink in Nottingham's Market Square this year but don't worry, you can still have a go at the ultimate seasonal sport.
For the first time ever throughout December we're transforming our ice pad here at the NIC into a Winter Wonderland. You won't recognise our ice rink as we're draping the walls and turning on hundreds of twinkling lights. With huge hanging snowflakes adding to the festive feel and your favourite seasonal tunes playing, this will be a fantastic yuletide experience. Even the wet or gloomy weather can't dampen our Christmas cheer as we bring the magic indoors this year. We've got the ice and we can make it snow on demand at selected sessions with our new snow machines! And because it's Christmas we're keeping all our skating prices the same.
We're also running some extra special dates for your diary including; three Snow Ball Parties, a Snow Ball Foam Party, Cadbury Christmas family sessions, a Capital FM Party Night and two Skate with the Panthers sessions.
No seasonal skate would be complete without a selection of mouth-watering festive food and drink served right here. Try our warm Viennese mince pies and Bratwurst sausages or sample our homemade mulled wine and hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows, there’s a tasty special to suit everyone. So if it's festive family fun, a romantic date or a night out with your friends - there really is something for everyone and with Christmas skating sessions running almost every day from 1 December 2011 to 3 January 2012 - why not give skating a try.
