National Ice Centre

The National Ice Centre (NIC) is the UK’s first twin ice pad facility and centre of excellence for Ice Sports. The NIC comprises of two Olympic size ice rinks, (one of which is located in the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham). The biggest ice sports store in the UK, Ice Locker, is also situated here.

The NIC is used as a training base by many of Great Britain’s bright young skaters. It is home to the GB Short Track Speed Skating Squad and the oldest and most successful ice hockey team in the country, the GMB Nottingham Panthers.

There are a range of ice skating sessions on offer to suit all ages and abilities every day, from quieter family or toddler sessions to disco sessions and theme parties.

Learn to skate courses

Learn to ice skate on the very same site where Nottingham legends Jayne Torvill & Christopher Dean once trained. Skating lessons at the National Ice Centre are available to people of all ages and abilities and lessons can be carried out intensively over three days or over a six-week period.

Tots skating lessons are also available for children aged under 5 (we recommend a minimum age of 24 months). Our experienced coaches will take your little ones from learning to stand on the ice to fully fledged skaters.

To find out more information about lessons click here. Courses can be booked on the phone, online or by calling 0843 373 3000.
