Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre
Visitors welcome!

Browse around the Visitor Centre shops or relax after a stroll in the Forest Table Restaurant. Take a walk to the mighty Major Oak, pick up one of our fun family nature trails, or just stand and admire the weird and wonderful shapes of the ancient oak trees, twisted by age and weathered into living sculptures. Take time out to appreciate the unique ecology of Sherwood. The natural decay of fallen wood means the woodland teems with insect life, fungi, birds and bats. In partnership with the Sherwood Forest Trust, we currently have a woodland grazing project at Sherwood, with Hebridean sheep and Dexter cattle helping ensure that open areas of medieval heathland do not revert to scrub.

5th to 11th August 2013: Robin Hood Festival

5th to 11th August 2013

A week of medieval family fun!

Robin is looking forward to welcoming all his followers to Sherwood Forest between Monday 5 August and Sunday 11 August 2013.

Entry to the festival is FREE! There is a parking charge of £5 per car. Souvenir programmes will be on sale for £1 each. Other than the events specified as chargeable, all other events and entertainment are free.

Each performance in the Open Air Theatre costs £1 for adults, 50p for children or £2.50 for a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) and tickets go on sale at the gate 15 minutes before the show begins.

Please click here to view a full list of events.

Cash machines:

There are two cash machines in nearby Edwinstowe Village (at the Co-op and the Post Office, both on the High Street). This is around a ten minute walk from the Festival site. Follow the signs for the Jousting Arena and continue into the village.
Dogs

Dogs are allowed at the Festival but must be kept on a lead at all times. Owners of nervous dogs should be aware that on popular days there may be crowds and entertainment will feature music and stunt fighting.

There are one or two specific events where dogs are not permitted, such as the 'walk with hawks' close up falconry walk, but posters and event information will point these out to owners.
