Harvey Hadden

Named after a local entrepreneur, Harvey Hadden Stadium was opened in 1956.  New facilities were developed over the years including the addition of football pitches within the park and in the 1970s a covered stand was built to improve spectator comfort.  The modern sports centre was added in 1990 to complement the outdoor facilities and opened in time to host the Volleyball Competition for the World Student Games.

Due to the size and flexibility of the facilities both outdoor and indoor, Harvey Hadden has become renowned for hosting major national and international events, including the 2008 European Cerebral Palsy Athletics Championships, The English Schools Athletics Championships (the largest junior athletics meeting in the country), as well as karate competitions and football tournaments. We also host dog Shows, collectors fairs, exhibitions and conventions throughout the year.
