Summer 2013 Nottingham Station Closure

Latest News - Summer 2013

31st July 2013

Network Rail is well on track with the re-signalling work and their programme is on target for the planned completion date of 25 August. A major milestone last week was the completion of the work at Beeston which enabled trains to operate out of Beeston station from Monday (22nd July) morning. Nottingham station is looking very different from just a week ago as major building work is taking place all around the station with the focus being on the new wing platform on the current Platform 4 and putting in the foundations for the new canopy on the current Platform 7. We have now entered into Phase 2 of the project, this will now mean that there will be no trains in or out of Nottingham until the 10th August.

We have quickly addressed issues that come up during the first week, these include: extra buses have been added at peak times for some journeys, while the signage on the buses and around the station continues to improve and will set to get even better.

Our control centre is working closely with other agencies to get real time traffic information and project updates. This is allowing us to plan our bus journeys better and keep customers informed of any delays.  Our customer service and control teams are also sending out messages round the clock from the @shirley_updates twitter feeds, so don't forget to sign up to receive the upto date information about Nottingham.

Nottingham’s railway is undergoing its biggest transformation in a generation.  A major improvement scheme is currently ongoing to redevelop Nottingham station into a world-class transport hub, and Network Rail will shortly begin work on a £100 million project to rebuild the rail infrastructure around the city.  This scheme will help to future-proof Nottingham’s railway for the increasing number of passengers and deliver improved reliability.

As a result of the major work being carried out by Network Rail during the summer, there will be significant changes to East Midlands Trains services on routes to and from Nottingham between Saturday 20 July and Sunday 25 August.

From 11 April, timetables for all the affected routes will be available to download at eastmidlandstrains.co.uk/nottingham, along with advice and information for passengers travelling to and from Nottingham over the summer.
