Whether you're planning to visit Newark, Southwell or any parts of the district, we can help you plan and enjoy your stay with our extensive range of original souvenirs, local interest books, guidebooks, maps and postcards. Our souvenirs and books can also be bought by mail, email or over the phone. We also sell Theatre Tokens, which are accepted at over 240 theatres nationwide, including Newark Palace Theatre.

Newark has a host of exciting attractions for visitors including museums, Newark Castle, a market and Palace Theatre Newark, as well as interesting walks and Civil War trails so you can really get a feel of the historical significance of our picturesque town.

We can can now book National Express tickets or day excursions with Travel Wright website for personal callers to the Newark Tourist Information Centre, as well as leaflets and brochures to help you make the most of your trip. We can also help you book bus and rail transport.

We offer a local room bookings service and a 'book a bed ahead' service for national bookings.

You can book tickets for tours of Newark Castle, get information on our museums and exhibitions, as well as leaflets on attractions throughout the East Midlands and the UK.

We stock an extensive range of original souvenirs, local interest books, guidebooks, maps and postcards. Our souvenirs and books can also be purchased by mail, email or over the phone.  We also sell Theatre Tokens, which are accepted at over 240 theatres nationwide, including Newark Palace Theatre, as well as all of London's West End theatres. The tokens are available in denominations of £5, £10 and £20, and they have no expiry date.

Christmas 2013 Events

November and December 2013

Free parking will be available at the Riverside carpark in Newark for two weekends in the run-up to Christmas.

Newark and Sherwood District has agreed to provide the free parking all day Saturday and Sunday on the weekends of December 7 and 8 and 14 and 15.

The switch-on of Newark’s Christmas lights will be on Sunday, November 24.

A free programme of activities has been organised by the town council with support from the district council and NCP, who run the carpark in St Mark’s Place.

A market with craft, food and charity stalls will open at 11am, along with a children’s funfair.

Pupils from four primary schools will sing Christmas carols to start the performances on the main stage at 11am. They will be followed by Newark Town Band, AJ’s Dance Group from Newark and Newark Rock Choir.

The rest of the entertainment line-up will feature music from The Parades, The Business, De Vide, Only the Young, and X Factor contestant Joseph Whelan.

There will be a fireworks display at the end of the day and a carol service in Newark Parish Church.

Newark Castle Rotary Club will begin its Father Christmas grotto in the Buttermarket Shopping Centre starting on switch-on day, when it will be open from noon until 4pm.

The grotto will then be open every Saturday until December 21 from 10am-3pm. Entry will be £3.50, which includes a present, with any profits going to the Rainbows Children’s Hospice and Rotary charities.

Other Christmas events include gift-wrapping in St Mark’s Place, Newark, by Beaumond House Community Hospice volunteers on December 7, 8, 11, 14 and 15, and Christmas markets with street entertainers on December 14 and 21.

There will be a Christmas market in the Market Place on Sunday, December 15, with community carols and a Santa Dash event.
