Saturday 17 March sees Nottingham once again celebrate St Patrick's Day in style!
The annual St Patrick's Day Parade will make its way from the Forest Recreation Ground to the Old Market Square and will feature various marching bands from across the city, the Irish community and Irish organisations.
This year the parade will be led by the County of Westmeath with Mary Greaney as Chief Marshall. The Chairman of Westmeath County Council, Cllr Mark Cooney, will also be present at the celebrations. The parade will assemble at 11am at The Forest Recreation Ground and at 12 midday will procede along the route: Mansfield Road - Lower Milton Street -Parliament Street - Queens Street and into the Old Market Square. The parde will arrive into the Old Market Square in time for the afternoon open air concert at 1pm.
There will be a free open air concert in the Old Market Square throughout the afternoon showcasing the best of Irish traditional music, song and dance including Ireland's leading folk band Na Fianna.
Old Market Square entertainment:
11.30am to 12.30pm - Lively opening by Na Fiánna as the parade prepares and leaves The Forest
12.30pm to 1pm - Civic greetings
1pm to 1.20pm - McManus Dancers
1.20pm to 1.35pm - Trinity Showband - from the Band Stand on the Fountain area
1.35pm to 1.55pm - Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann (Nottingham Branch)
1.55pm to 2.05pm - St. Barnabas Gaelic Athletic Association: Cups, speech and rally
2.05pm to 2.25pm - Nottingham Set Dancers
2.25pm to 2.45pm - Glendarragh Dancers
2.45pm to 3pm - Tartanaires Showband from the Band Stand
3pm to 4.30pm - Na Fiánna
