Sherwood Pines Forest Park
Sherwood Pines Forest Park is 3300 acres and the largest single tract of forest open to the public in the East Midlands. The forest provides a great venue for many activities. The cycling facilities provide something for every one, from family cyclists to experienced off road riders. The way marked walking trails meander through some of the oldest parts of the forest, there are also many other tracks and trails to be explored. There are several play areas to entertain the kids (both young and old!). The visitor centre area has a cafe, toilets, cycle hire and Go Ape! the high wire forest adventure.
We also have classroom facilities and education rangers for school and group visits.

Gruffalo orienteering

£1.50 per map, parking charges apply

Mon-Fri, Sat, Sun, 8am - 6pm winter, 8am - 10pm summer, cafe open daily

Kids will love the excitement of using a simple map to try to find twelve Gruffalo markers. Once they've found each marker they need to answer the question related to the marker in their Gruffalo orienteering leaflet.

Children can choose to run or walk the course and can time themselves against the clock if they want to increase the challenge.

The course is suitable for children up to eight years old.

Before you begin the course, pick up your Gruffalo orienteering leaflet, certificate and map available from Sherwood Pines cafe for £1.50.
