Tourist Information Centre

Whether you're planning to visit Newark, Southwell or any parts of the district, we can help you plan and enjoy your stay with our extensive range of original souvenirs, local interest books, guidebooks, maps and postcards. Our souvenirs and books can also be bought by mail, email or over the phone. We also sell Theatre Tokens, which are accepted at over 240 theatres nationwide, including Newark Palace Theatre.

Newark has a host of exciting attractions for visitors including museums, Newark Castle, a market and Palace Theatre Newark, as well as interesting walks and Civil War trails so you can really get a feel of the historical significance of our picturesque town.

We can can now book National Express tickets or day excursions with Travel Wright website for personal callers to the Newark Tourist Information Centre, as well as leaflets and brochures to help you make the most of your trip. We can also help you book bus and rail transport.

We offer a local room bookings service and a 'book a bed ahead' service for national bookings.

You can book tickets for tours of Newark Castle, get information on our museums and exhibitions, as well as leaflets on attractions throughout the East Midlands and the UK.

We stock an extensive range of original souvenirs, local interest books, guidebooks, maps and postcards. Our souvenirs and books can also be purchased by mail, email or over the phone.  We also sell Theatre Tokens, which are accepted at over 240 theatres nationwide, including Newark Palace Theatre, as well as all of London's West End theatres. The tokens are available in denominations of £5, £10 and £20, and they have no expiry date.

Summer Holiday Family Fun


The 17th century was a great time for inventors and inventions. Come and take part in our summer of 17th century science.

Make your own telescope for looking up at the heavens and meet a couple of strange
scientists. Prince Rupert of the Rhine will tell you how he turned Windsor Castle into a laboratory and invented a torpedo, a diving bell and exploding teardrops. You can
also meet Mad Madge of Newcastle, one of England’s first science fiction writers and the only woman in the 1600s to be invited to visit the Royal Society.
