Newstead Abbey

Newstead Abbey is a beautiful historic house converted from a monastery, set in extensive formal gardens and parkland. It is the former home of the poet Lord Byron, and many of his possessions can still be seen. 

Newstead Abbey is located off the main A60 between Nottingham and Mansfield.

Treasure and Trinkets Trail

Lord Byron’s grandfather was a Royal Navy Officer known as ‘Foul Weather Jack’. This month pick up a treasure map and discover the chest hidden in the grounds to claim your prize.

Pirate Day….arrrrrrrr!

Time:  11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Many of the Byron family were Admirals or Captains in the Navy and no doubt came across Pirates on their voyages.

To celebrate these nautical connections, join us for a Pirate day at the Abbey.

There will be fun activities and prizes for the best dressed children.

Great Food and Drink Festival, The Big Bake

Time:  10:00 am – Aug 28 @ 5:00 pm

Featuring a host of well-known celebrity bakers in the kitchen demonstration theatre – including Candice Brown (Winner of the Great British Bake Off 2016), Rosemary Shrager and Gizzi Erskine. Showcasing how to make the perfect cakes and how to avoid that ‘soggy bottom’.

Alongside a great selection of regional food and drink.

Tickets £8.00 advanced, £10.00 on doors. Under 10s FREE.
Price includes access to Newstead Abbey Gardens and the House.

Newstead’s WWII Wartime Weekend

Newstead will be hosting it’s first WWII weekend this year.

Displays of military Vehicles and Displays from Allies and German re-enactors.
Entertainment from Johnny Victory and Andrew Sisters Tribute group.

£10.00 per Adult, under 16s free.  Includes entry to park, Gardens, House, Parking and event.
