Ice Hockey

Ice hockey is an exciting, fast paced and physical contact sport. As the home of the oldest and most successful ice hockey team in the country, the GMB Nottingham Panthers, there’s no better place to immerse yourself in the fastest team game in the world!

Skate Hockey is a six-week ice hockey course for ages 4 to 16 years. Starting from beginner grade 1 going up to grade 6, the course is delivered without the use of a puck to ensure players can skate to a standard that will enable them to move onto the Play Hockey course – the next level of their hockey development. Skate Hockey teaches participants how to skate the hockey way from scratch.

Play Hockey grades 1-3 are only available for grass roots beginners. NIHC registered club players are not eligible to access this session. Play Hockey is when the puck is introduced as part of the player’s development. The stronger the player can skate the better they will be. Play Hockey uses a similar format to that of the Skate Hockey programme but with the addition of learning puck handling at the same time as skating.

Adult Skate Hockey is a six-week learn to play ice hockey course available for adults from the age of 18 + for grades 1-6.

This learn to play hockey course can be joined upon completion of Skate UK grade one skating lessons, and will teach the fundamentals of ice skating for adults wishing to play ice hockey.

Adult Play Hockey

Adult Play Hockey will teach the fundamentals of ice hockey.

To take part you must be able to skate forwards and stop unaided. We recommend completion of the Adult Skate hockey programme before enrolling on this course.

Full protective ice hockey equipment is required.

These pay and play sessions are carried out on a third of the ice. They consist of skating drills, puck handling and mini-game situations. The below session must be pre-booked in advance and can be booked online.

Intermediate and advanced aged under 18 years.

Scrimmage sessions are open to players of any ability. Full hockey kit is required to participate.

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to find out about upcoming clinics as they’re announced.
