Dog Fun Day (FREE Event)
25th April 2010

The annual DH Lawrence Heritage Dog Fun Day will be held on Sunday.

It will take place on the field next to Durban House Heritage Centre.

Classes include:

* Waggiest Tail
* Veteran (for dogs over 7)
* Best Condition
* Best Mover
* Child Handling
* Best Head and Expression
* Junior (for dogs under two).

There will be prizes for all children.

Time: 11.00 am to 3.00 pm (judging starts at noon)
Cost: FREE but £1 per dog entry for each class.

Event reviewed : Children's Summer Craft Day

"I have just spent a couple of hours escaping the rain at Durban House Heritage Centre. Finding somewhere that will keep 3 children of varying ages amused is not often easy but we managed it this afternoon. We mainly went for the craft day and the old children had great fun making an octopus and various other items - there were plenty of paper plates, toilet rolls, glue, glitter, tissue paper and all sorts of stuff that you wouldn't want messing up your house! Afterwards, we spent another hour upstairs, finding out about how miners and their families lived, playing hopscotch, noughts and crosses and other games. Even my 10 month old had a good time, as it was quite safe for her to have a crawl around.

I'd definitely recommend it for a trip out, even if there isn't an event on. There is also a little Bistro but we spent so long that we didn't get the chance to check it out. It looked very nice though."
