Armed Forces Weekend (FREE) 26th and 27th June 2010
An array of exciting shows, re-enactments, demonstrations and displays will captivate old and young on this highly popular FREE weekend, set in the magnificent surroundings of Grade I listed Wollaton Hall and Deer Park.
This year, the weekend is bigger and better than ever! Last year's event saw its biggest crowds yet, as up to 30,000 visitors flocked to see military displays and demonstrations with tanks, horses, dogs and big guns and to take part in hands on activities such as laser dome, paint balling and rock climbing. For two years running the event has been heralded by the Ministry of Defence as the flagship event for the East Midlands, and is enjoyed by thousands of people - veterans, families, cadets, serving personnel - from across the region. Featuring a packed arena programme, costumed interpreters, military vehicles and displays, fly pasts, fun fair and more, its a true celebratory event.
Since 2006, Nottingham City Council has hosted a programme of events in support and celebration of National Veterans Day. The day is now transformed into Armed Forces Day with a variety of local, regional and national events running across a whole weekend.
Wollaton Hall and Deer Park is proud to host this amazing, flagship event again.

"Great tour, knowledgable guide. The view from the ballroom at the top of the hall is great, although by aware there are very steep winding stairs to get there and the tour does go out on the rooftop - not one for those with vertigo!"

Review title : A Great Day at Wollaton, added by : Michelle (16/01/2009)

"We visited Wollaton Hall and Park with our two young sons and we all had a great day despite the cold outside. My eldest son was enthralled by the two herds of deer; Fallow and Red. He was thrilled to get close to the Red deer herd at dusk as they fed on turnips close to the Hall.
The Hall itself has many interactive displays and proved to be both interesting and informative. There were many natural history exhibits; stuffed animals, birds and reptiles. Displays of how the Hall was run and who lived there and much more. Overall a brilliant free day out."

"My friends and I took a trip to Wollaton Park for the day, but due to the unpredictable English weather, we had to take shelter in Wollaton Hall. While there, we decided to take a look around the building and enjoyed looking through all the historic rooms and seeing how much it had changed since it's recent refurbishment. I was very impressed and would definately reccomend it to anyone who would appreciate it's interesting content."
