Market Square
Historically, the Old Market Square, right in the heart of Nottingham City Centre, forms a meeting place for the people of Nottingham and is also the location for local events, civic protests, royal visits, celebrations and public mourning.  It was redesigned and reopened in 2007.

Many of Nottingham's most defining moments have occurred here.

22 July - 3 Sept: Nottingham Riviera
23rd July to 5th September 2010

The Nottingham Riviera is back this year, returning to the Old Market Square for fun and games from Friday 22 July until Saturday 3 September 2011!

This year the Riviera will be a seaside playground with beach cafe and bar, bucket and spade stalls, flags, bunting, fairground rides and to complete the seaside experience a giant paddling pool!

300 tonnes of sand, 600 metres of boardwalk, a huge expanse of water, licensed beach bar and much more will again transform the Market Square in the centre of Nottingham.

Councillor Michael Wildgust, Lord Mayor of Nottingham, will officially open the Riviera on Friday 22 July at 12 noon.

There will be plenty to enjoy over the summer months including:

FREE entertainment including DJ's live music, TV and radio broadcasts and more
Decked beach bar and rides including old favourites such as the waveswinger
    Seastorm and Bumper boats
Beach volleyball competitions for beginners, local businesses and amateur club members
    Beach football
    Outdoor cinema

....and much more

Come rain, come shine Nottingham Riviera will be open to everyone from 10am until 11pm in the Old Market Square, offering a programme of FREE entertainment for families and people of all ages to enjoy.
