Newark Town Hall and Spotlight Gallery
Newark Town Hall has housed the Mayor and the Town Council since it was built in 1776. In September 1999, the Town Hall became a registered museum, opening up access to the Grade 1 listed building and its treasures.

The Treasures on view to the public today include a fine collection of paintings, furniture, ceremonial silver and civic gifts.  Housed in the Georgian Town Hall, together they represent four centuries of local government in Newark.

The Spotlight Gallery provides an ideal space for local community groups and artists to exhibit their work.  The regularly changing programme of temporary exhibitions means that there is something of interest for everyone to enjoy.

This year’s theme is Best of British, to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year. You can find out more about the those have already registered by clicking here, and remember, all themes are on a first-come, first-served basis, so you’ll need to register soon by clicking here.

The Carnival procession starts from Newark Market Place at 2pm, and follows a route that takes in many town centre roads, where thousands of people will line the streets to celebrate the town’s biggest community event.

This year we begin the the fantastic surroundings of Newark Market Place, head along Stodman Street, left onto Castlegate, then Lombard Street. The parade heads across Beaumond Cross onto London Road, left at the traffic lights and along Sherwood Avenue and Friary Road.

At the roundabout we head left along Queens Road, towards Northgate where we turn left towards Bargate. At Castle roundabout we make our only right towards Trent Bridge, and head towards our finish line of Riverside Park.

Full details of the the after party will be released shortly. Please keep an eye on our website for more information.
