Forest Recreation Ground

The Forest Recreation Ground sits about a mile north of the city centre and is well known to many visitors as the site of the annual Nottingham Goose Fair. In addition to hosting many other popular events, Forest Recreation Ground also has a variety of recreation facilities which includes a cafe (opening November 2013), football pitches, play areas, multi-activity pitches, an outdoor gym and a number of designated leisure walks.

The park has recently been restored thanks to a £5.2m Lottery funded restoration project which was completed in July 2013.

Sunday 17 August 2014

The Nottingham Carnival returns on Sunday 17 August 2014 on the Forest Recreation Ground, Nottingham.

This year the Big Parade will be larger and more spectacular than ever before. 18 troupes displaying amazing costumes with a true international feel will leave Nottingham Castle Gate in the City Centre from 2pm arriving at The Carnival Site at the Forest Recreation Ground around 4.30pm.

On the music scene, the event will continue to deliver top reggae and soca acts, as well as reggae royalty in the shape of the legendary Sir John Holt performing his massive list of hits with full band! In addition to the Main Stage, there will be three additional music zones playing a mix of club classics, party anthems and up-and‐ coming talent.

The carnival site itself offers lots of family fun including a Funfair, craft stalls, bungee trampolines, giant inflatables as well as the dazzling array of international cuisine to appeal to every taste. A licensed bar will also be provided.

The Nottingham Carnival promises to be a full day of positives vibes and entertainment.

Entry is just £2 and children (under 11) are FREE!

The Carnival Parade will set off from Nottingham Castle at 2.00 pm and will arrive at the Forest Recreation Ground at 4.30 pm
