Friday

Free Family Creative Workshops

During the Spring and Summer months, there will be free creative family workshops at Nottinghams' National Justice Museum.  Every Friday morning, you'll be able to drop into the 'creative space' and make something which is inspired by the museum collection.  The sessions will be led by artists, makers and writers. 


Open to everyone, these workshops are free and, this Friday, from the noose to an escape rope made from bedsheets, join artist Nadim Chaudry to explore different kinds of rope in the collection. You’re invited to make your own rope, using a variety of colourful fabrics and yarns.

Friday Family Smash Up at Nottingham Tennis Centre

Family fun for ages 3 upwards. Pop down for an old school social night playing different sports - there will be a selection from archery, Badminton, football, uni-hockey, swingball and of course tennis and Mini Tennis. It's also the return of the inflatables!

Open Day at Nottingham Playhouse

Go behind the scenes, see backstage and meet some of the staff who help create the on-stage magic.

You will have the opportunity to take part in workshops, listen to talks and learn more about what we do. If you’re planning to see Skellig on 30 March, why not make a day of it and get involved with Skellig themed activities before the show. There will be competitions, craft activities and plenty of family friendly options in the Playhouse Bar and Kitchen throughout the day. The 1pm Story Explorers performance and the 2.30pm backstage tour will be BSL Interpreted. The 11am backstage tour will be wheelchair accessible.

Fun at Stonebridge City Farm

Grab your coats and wellies and head down to Stonebridge City Farm on Saturday, for a day packed with free activities, including a treasure hunt, animal handling, drumming, Mothers Day crafts, Story and Rhyme Time, Jiggle and Wiggle and Facepainting.

The Nottingham Record Fair

Fans of vinyl should head down to The Belgrave Rooms on Saturday, where you'll find stacks of the UK's best record dealers.  Food and drinks will be available.

Magical Spring Trail at Rufford Abbey
 

There's always so much to see and do at Rufford Abbey.  Whether you like a stroll around the lake, a spot of lunch in the restaurant or a game of family football on the lawn, it's a lovely day out in Nottinghamshire.

This weekend (and until 28th April) you can find Easter Bunnies, spring flowers and fluffy animals by taking part in their Magical Spring Trail.  You'll even get a chocolate treat at the end!

Mums Visit White Post Farm for free this Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 31st March this year, which is perfectly timed for the start of the spring and lambing season at White Post Farm. They've got lots of animal mummies due to give birth, plus newborn piglets and Cameroon lambs.

The best part is, you can take your mum for FREE with any one paying person! Garden History Tour at Newstead Abbey

Join local historian Philip Jones on a free history walk through the gardens. It's free to join the tour, but usual car parking charges apply.

Tours will be held at 10.30am, 1.00pm and 2.30pm. Book in on the day in the House Shop. Tours will run subject to weather conditions, so please check before visiting

Steam Sunday at the Nottingham Industrial Museum

See the mighty, 4-storey Beam Engine in steam, along with lots of other steam and diesel engines. Friendly and enthusiastic volunteers will be on hand to answer questions, give guided tours and explain the amazing objects in the Steam Hall. They also have 4 other amazing galleries full of objects from Nottingham’s past, including lace-machines, radios & telephones

Mothers Day Skating at Nottingham's National Ice Centre

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a difference by taking to the ice with your family.  They are saying a big thank you to all the mums out there by offering a free glass of Prosecco or soft drink to sip in their Sub Zero café, with the purchase of an adult skating ticket. And while you’re enjoying the fizz or soft drink, they’ll be hosting a bunch of family-friendly activities to keep little ones entertained, including arts, crafts and face painting. There will also be chocolatey treats up for grabs for a few lucky mummies
