National Ice Centre


Get your Christmas wish list ready because Santa will be visiting the National Ice Centre and setting up his grotto beside the ice on Saturday 14, Sunday 15, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 December. Both weekends will also feature magical Christmas activities including face painting, arts & crafts, festive music to skate to and much more.  Santa’s Grotto can be pre-booked online until Tuesday 10 December for Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 December and pre-booked until Tuesday 17 December for Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 December. Santa’s Grotto will be available from 10:30 each day until 5.30pm each day.

Please note you must have both a pre-booked ticket and a skating ticket for the event.

Newstead Abbey

Discover the romance and mystery of Byron’s home this Christmas.  Step into A Storybook Christmas at Newstead Abbey every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from November 30th.  Join the Webb sisters as they hunt for their little pet mouse on Christmas Eve and stumble across some of their favourite fairy tales!

This year the house will sparkle and shine with Christmas lights and Decorations. Floral displays and music will once again fill the House. A storybook tale of the Webb family children will also lead you through a number of specially themed rooms with a fairytale theme.  There will be a craft fair in the Cloisters every weekend, so get shopping for your unique gifts and presents. Musicians are also scheduled throughout the month.   Santa is also paying a visit so book to see him now!

Festive Afternoon Teas are also available.

Take your little ones to meet Father Christmas and his team of festive helpers in the Malt Cross Workshop, which will be transformed into a festive grotto. Each slot is 10 minutes long and there will be a gift to take home. You can also get a selfie with Santa for no additional cost.

Winter Wonderland
Old Market Square and Long Row, Nottingham

If you fancy some festive cheer, head down to Nottingham's Market Square, where you'll find the Winter Wonderland, with loads of fun for the whole family.  Shop in the Christmas Market, where you'll find over 70 stalls selling a wide range of food, drink and gifts.  Skate on the 110 square meter outdoor ice rink - the largest in the East Midlands.  Take a trip down the Toboggan Slide, ride on the traditional carousel or take a slide on the Helter Skelter.

After all of that exercise, why not stop off at the Helter Skelter Bar, where you'll find mulled wine, spiced cider and hot toddies, or chill out in The Alpine Ice Bar - the UK's biggest mobile ice bar, where drinks will be served in real ice glasses from the Vodka bar.  The Altitude Bar is an all-glass chalet which offers panoramic views of the Market Square, along with cocktails, table service and a private DJ.

Join Asha, a visitor from the Stone Age, for her Winter Fest. Make Unicorn Charms and Magic Skulls on the Saturday or Magic Reindeer and Unicorn Crowns on the Sunday. You will also hear a festive and get a chance to make music on Stone Age instruments.

Join resident good witch Mother Grundy and make festive mini wreaths to decorate your home this Christmas. You will also hear stories and learn more about the folklore of Christmas and the plants associated with this time of year.

Please note that access to the cave is via wooden steps and warm clothing is recommended.

On both weekends, Santa will be at the Crags – £4.50 per child and there is no need to book in advance.

Santa Claus wants to let you know that he’ll be at Creswell Crags every Saturday and Sunday from 30 November to 15 December from 11am to 4pm.  He wants to meet as many children as he can, and hear what they want for Christmas. And he’ll have a gift for every child he meets.


It’s £4.50 per child to see him. You don’t need to book in advance, you will be given a numbered ticket when you arrive and pay. Then you just need to wait until our Elves let you know it’s your turn to go and meet the man himself. The cafe will be open, serving some festive treats, and we’ll have craft activities to keep everyone occupied at busier times.


Please be aware that the waiting time with fluctuate with demand. We recommend arriving earlier in the day if you can. Santa will also take a short lunch break!

Festive Family Fun Weekends
Woodthorpe Park Plant Shop, Nottingham

  

Enjoy a wonderful Christmassy atmosphere with demonstrations and gift ideas demonstrations, while being able to shop for great locally made gifts and local crafts from pottery to pickles. New for this year is a local screen printer which can create Christmas-themed t-shirts on site. Visitors can also try amazing local food provided by local café, Blend.   Alongside the Christmas village with beautiful gifts and Christmas decorations, there will be face painting, trails, and tree decorating to keep the children entertained. There will be Christmas craft areas, wreath making and quirky crafts as well as family photo areas to grab a selfie on a sleigh and keep a souvenir of a great day.

Live music will add to the Christmassy feel. Enjoy the traditional barrel organ outside, as well as performances from the Nottingham Youth Orchestra, and the Oxton Hand Bell Ringers. Full of rock’n’rollin’ fun music for children and families. Johnny and the Raindrops will be dropping by, as well as singer Ellie Mae. These acts will be spread out over the three weekends.

Jack McNeill will be playing the role of Dandini. Jack will be returning to the Theatre Royal following his star turn in last year’s pantomime as Peter Pan. Hannah Grace Lawson will make her pantomime debut as Cinderella after recently starring in the West End as first cover for Cosette in Les Miserables.

With mischievous comedy, jaw-dropping special effects and plenty of boos and hisses, Cinderella will be packed with festive fun for all the family from those aged 3 to 103. So polish off your pumpkins, grab your glass slippers and get ready to head to the ball!

The cast will be joined by Olivia Birchenough (Milkshake!) who will be playing Cinderella and Jamie Morris and Tarot Joseph who promise to bring an extensive range of outrageous yet glamorous costumes to their roles as the Ugly Sisters. Cafe 1899 are now taking bookings for the event, either pop into the cafe or call 0115 926 1388 to book a place.

Tickets cost £9.50 each - full payment taken at time of booking. The event includes joining Santa for a breakfast party with breakfast box and present. Children will be able to write their letter to Santa and post it in the special post box, where the elves will whisk it of to the North Pole and have a reply ready before they leave. All children must be accompanied by an adult, seating is available in the cafe for adults but not at the breakfast table other than for ticket holders.

The Yule Log
Sherwood Forest

The Yule Log was a most important part of the medieval Christmas… It must never be bought. Only found or given. It was best to get the biggest log you could as it has to be kept alight throughout the 12 days of Christmas.! As long as the log burned the celebrations of Christmas carried on.

Help the Sheriff of Nottingham decorate our Yule Log ready to gift back to the forest. Craft your own ‘Bug Log’ to gift to creepy crawlies in your garden!  Sunday will also be the third of our Advent Sunday celebrations. Join us and the Sheriff of Nottingham at 12pm to light the third candle. Then sing along to carols with the Major Oak Pop Choir in the amphitheatre at 1:30pm on Sunday while we burn our own Yule Log.

Christmas Spectacular
Sundown Adventureland, Retford

When it comes to a Christmas Event in Nottinghamshire, no-one does it better than Sundown Adventureland. As Christmas draws near, the park is converted into a Winter Wonderland with Christmas theming throughout and the annual opening of the wonderful ‘Night before Christmas’ ride. This year, Mansfield is hosting its special Christmas market with lovely Christmas Chalets on West Gate, Mansfield Town Centre for even longer, due to demand.  The chalets will be set up ready to open every day from Sunday 17th November (the BIG Switch on day) through to Sunday 22nd December from 10am. With special late night openings too!

Traders sell a wide range of excellent handmade and local products such as jewellery, craft items, bath bombs, accessories, home-made candles, tea etc.

There will also be live music and face painting to entertain all the family. Also, as part of the Artisan and Craft Market, Mansfield Vegans will be hosting a Planet Friendly Christmas Market with specialist traders providing Eco friendly and cruelty free items, gifts and food.
