Winter Family Fun Weekends
National Ice Centre


Get your Christmas wish list ready because Santa will be visiting the National Ice Centre and setting up his grotto beside the ice on Saturday 14, Sunday 15, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 December. Both weekends will also feature magical Christmas activities including face painting, arts & crafts, festive music to skate to and much more.  Santa’s Grotto can be pre-booked online until Tuesday 10 December for Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 December and pre-booked until Tuesday 17 December for Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 December. Santa’s Grotto will be available from 10:30 each day until 5.30pm each day.

Please note you must have both a pre-booked ticket and a skating ticket for the event.

Festive Foam Parties
National Ice Centre

Taking place at the final Winter Family Fun Weekend, three festive foam parties will create a wintery scene on the ice. Put on your Christmas jumper and prepare to get festive as the disco lights are switched on and cannons spray snow white foam onto the rink whilst you skate to your favourite yuletide tunes. For the very first time the magic is extended to a relaxed foam party, perfect for those wanting a calm and quiet environment to skate without music or flashing lights and a little less foam.

Christmas Weekends

Newstead Abbey

Discover the romance and mystery of Byron’s home this Christmas.  Step into A Storybook Christmas at Newstead Abbey every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from November 30th.  Join the Webb sisters as they hunt for their little pet mouse on Christmas Eve and stumble across some of their favourite fairy tales!

This year the house will sparkle and shine with Christmas lights and Decorations. Floral displays and music will once again fill the House. A storybook tale of the Webb family children will also lead you through a number of specially themed rooms with a fairytale theme.  There will be a craft fair in the Cloisters every weekend, so get shopping for your unique gifts and presents. Musicians are also scheduled throughout the month.   Santa is also paying a visit so book to see him now!

Festive Afternoon Teas are also available.

The house will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in December between 11am and 4pm.

Breakfast with Santa
Rufford Abbey

What a brilliant treat for the kids this Christmas, breakfast with Father Christmas himself!  Here's what's on the menu for breakfast with the jolly great man in the red suit.  Coach House Breakfast Fry Up or Veggie Garden Grill served with toast. Also, Belgian Waffles with chocolate sauce for the children.  A choice of apple Juice or Orange Juice for everyone and free tea or coffee top ups for the adults.

Winter Wonderland
Old Market Square and Long Row, Nottingham

If you fancy some festive cheer, head down to Nottingham's Market Square, where you'll find the Winter Wonderland, with loads of fun for the whole family.  Shop in the Christmas Market, where you'll find over 70 stalls selling a wide range of food, drink and gifts.  Skate on the 110 square meter outdoor ice rink - the largest in the East Midlands.  Take a trip down the Toboggan Slide, ride on the traditional carousel or take a slide on the Helter Skelter.

After all of that exercise, why not stop off at the Helter Skelter Bar, where you'll find mulled wine, spiced cider and hot toddies, or chill out in The Alpine Ice Bar - the UK's biggest mobile ice bar, where drinks will be served in real ice glasses from the Vodka bar.  The Altitude Bar is an all-glass chalet which offers panoramic views of the Market Square, along with cocktails, table service and a private DJ.

I Love Mansfield Christmas Market
Mansfield City Centre

This year, Mansfield is hosting its special Christmas market with lovely Christmas Chalets on West Gate, Mansfield Town Centre for even longer, due to demand.  The chalets will be set up ready to open every day from Sunday 17th November, the BIG Switch on day through to Sunday 22nd December from 10am. With special late night openings too!

Enjoy a stroll around The ‘I Love Mansfield’ Christmas Market for those special stocking fillers and enjoy a delicious drink or bite to eat. There will be lots of lovely things to see and do, with Carol singing from local schools, entertainment from local musicians, free goodies and prizes to be won!  Follow the Christmas trail and vote for your favourite shop window display, details in the Christmas booklet available from November.

Story Time with Father Christmas

Enjoy a magical story time with Father Christmas in their beautiful Parsonage, where children will be read a Clumber Christmas story and then choose a present in this traditional event.

Children will also be able to write letters to Father Christmas and post them in th4e special post box; they will get a response on the day! So pop along and join them for this traditional holiday experience with a nod to the 'make do and mend' attitude of the 1940's, in honour of their anniversary year.

Cinderella
Theatre Royal, Nottingham

Don’t miss the magic of this year’s must-see production of Cinderella, the Fairy Godmother of all pantomimes! You and your family shall go to the ball with yet another spectacular family panto, packed with traditional pantomime ingredients.

Coronation Street’s Les Dennis and Connor McIntyre will swap the cobbles for clutch bags as the Ugly Sisters, alongside Pop Idol star Gareth Gates as Prince Charming, with Richard Cadell and Sooty starring as Buttons. Jack McNeill will be playing the role of Dandini. Jack will be returning to the Theatre Royal following his star turn in last year’s pantomime as Peter Pan. Hannah Grace Lawson will make her pantomime debut as Cinderella after recently starring in the West End as first cover for Cosette in Les Miserables.

With mischievous comedy, jaw-dropping special effects and plenty of boos and hisses, Cinderella will be packed with festive fun for all the family from those aged 3 to 103. So polish off your pumpkins, grab your glass slippers and get ready to head to the ball!

Cinderella
Mansfield Palace Theatre

Cinderella stars Melanie Walters (BBC Gavin and Stacey) who is swapping Wales for her magic wand to play the Fairy Godmother alongside and returning by popular demand, comedy favourite Adam Moss as Buttons. The cast will be joined by Olivia Birchenough (Milkshake!) who will be playing Cinderella and Jamie Morris and Tarot Joseph who promise to bring an extensive range of outrageous yet glamorous costumes to their roles as the Ugly Sisters. The show has something for everyone – music, laughs and even the sensational Shetland Ponies live on stage.

Victorian Christmas
Framework Knitters Museum, Ruddington

There's plenty going on - carols from Ruddington Community Choir, tombola, crafts and some Victorian characters to talk to. And if you get hungry or thirsty, there will be chestnuts roasting, mushy peas, crumpets toasting in the Victorian cottage and mulled wine, hot drinks and mince pies.

For a real atmospheric treat, this year, they are lighting the frameshops with candles, so you can see their knitters working as they would have done 150 years ago.
Don't miss it - it will be magical!

The Magic of Christmas
National Ice Centre

Just a few days before Christmas day, over 170 of Nottingham’s finest skating stars will put on an ice show to behold. Enjoy the annual Christmas gala performed by the best talent from all figure skating disciplines including group routines, solo ice dancers and ice dance couples at the National Ice Centre Academy’s Christmas spectacular.  The Magic of Christmas ticket holders can also enjoy a free skating at the public skating session straight after the show between 4 – 5pm free of charge! Simply show your event ticket at the box office.
