There's lots going on at Newstead Abbey this weekend, when the house will sparkle and shine with Christmas lights and decorations, floral displays and music.  A storybook tale of the Webb family children will also lead you through a number of specially themed rooms with a fairytale theme.  There will be a craft fair in the Cloisters this weekend and musicians are scheduled throughout the month.  If you fancy meeting Santa, he'll be in his grotto this weekend between 11am and 3pm and it'll cost you £6 for a chat and a gift.

There will be Carols in the Great Hall: Girl Choristers in the State Chamber at Southwell Minster on Saturday. Britten’s wonderful Ceremony of Carols combines sacred and secular texts of a seasonal flavour. His inimitable setting of these medieval texts for high voices and harp is wonderfully sung by the Girl Choristers of Southwell Minster, directed by Simon Hogan.  On 7 December, hear these pieces combined with seasonal readings, and on 9 December alongside other seasonal choral music, a chance to sing along, and festive drink and nibbles.

Enjoy a very merry White Post Christmas at White Post Farm this weekend, with lots of tinseltastic fun for the whole family.  Explore the Winter Wonderland Walkthrough, build a snowman, do Christmas Crafts ánd meet Santa in his Grotto;.  Take part in the traditional nativity play, meet the reindeer and check out the Mistletoads in the Reptile House and much more. Santa will be at Creswell Crags every weekend until 16th December.  Children will receive an age appropriate gift and get to meet the man himself before the big day!

No need to book - just turn up and you will be allotted a time to meet Santa.  Please note that parking charges are in effect at Creswell and you will need to have the correct change (£3 for an all-day ticket).

Steampunkalia - a Splendid Steampunk Celebration of Christmas will be at the Nottingham Industrial Museum at Wollaton Park this weekend.  If you're a fan of steampunk, this is the event for you.  Diesel and steam engines will be running and a  steampunk craft fair in the Great Hall.

Visit Woodthorpe Park in Nottingham this weekend and weekends throughout December for lots of festive fun.  You'll be able to buy gardening gifts and plants from the Plant Shop and wander around the Christmas village, where there will be lots of gifts and decorations for sale, as well as face painting, trails and tree decorating for the children.  That's not all - there will also be Christmas craft areas, wreath making and quirky crafts with Curious, as well as a family photo area to grab a selfie on a sleigh and keep a souvenir of the day. 

Topping things off will be live music from the University of Nottingham Choir, Oxton Hand Bell Ringers, Robin Hood Youth Theatre, Brass Bands and local choirs across weekends in December.  You'll also be able to buy a Christmas tree and home-grown poinsettas and cyclamens.

There is plenty of free carparking too.
