Surprise Steampunk Pirate Picnic at Highfields Park

There are no restraints and no plan other than to enjoy your company at this Pirate Picnic . The governor of Port Highfields has imposed too many taxes on the seafaring folk and it is the season for treason, so a blockade and seige are the only eay to settle this. No seditious steampunk sailor worth their salt could possibly plot perfidious plans without a pirate picnic, so set sail by bus or rail (the tram is perfect for this outing) and join them for a day of plunder.

Port Highfields has you need, with a cafe, arts centre, ice-cream, playground and a brilliant boating lake. Being an inclusive bunch they'd love you just as you are, regardless of the amount of points to your hat, so tricorns, bicorns, bandanas or even bananas are perfect.  Don your dandiest duds, pick out your peferct pirate patterns, rock a frock or join them in jeans. Team Falchion Living History Weekend at Sherwood Forest

Go along to the living history camp down by the Major Oak and meet the Falchions as they depict life in the 14th Century.

Learn how medieval folk coped with injuries in battle and at home, watch the blacksmith at work and view arms and armoury of the knights. Weather permitting, the armour-clad knights will do battle in the shadow of the Major Oak.

Who are Team Falchion? They are a group of Medieval enthusiasts who enjoy portraying the 14th century through crafts, education and combat re-enactment. They aim to encourage people to learn about medieval life through practicing crafts or skills associated with the time. They have blacksmiths, surgeons, armourers, candlemakers and woodworkers within the group as well as a bunch of ruffians who prefer to spend their time testing their mettle with a clash of arms.

This is a free event, and there’s no need to book!
