There are so many things to do across Nottinghamshire this Summer, including family-friendly events and activities, festivals, markets and indoor and outdoor fun for all ages.  Please take a look at our week-by-week guides for what we recommend.

Free Family Activities at the National Justice Museum

Enjoy free family activities at the Museum during the school holidays. These coincide with their new exhibition, Women in Fairy Tales which runs from 20 July - 3 Nov.  

There will be free Fairy Tale Crafts every day of the summer holiday.  Activities will vary but could include colouring in, finger puppets, make and take crowns & masks. Taking place in the Transformers Room.

It's a fact that children have a better imagination than adults and that's why we need you! Help us to identify the mythical and magical creatures living on the estate. You are our heroes, so pop your pants on the outside and find out who your sidekick will be! Available in Visitor Centre

Superhero Trail at Rufford Abbey Country Park

Have you ever thought it would be super cool to have a special power?  Flying, invisibility, incredible strength, mind reading, super speed.... Or all of them!  Come and train to be the ultimate superhero at our Superhero School this summer.  You will follow our training trail where you will be able to win points, defeat the baddies to earn your very own super powers!

Come dressed for the part, masked and capes are a must!! Suitable for ages 4 - 11

Trail sheets are available for £2 at Visitors Reception

Why not challenge friends and family to a shoot out on the archery range, or bring everyone together for a big volleyball, football or rounders match? Tennis, hockey, table tennis, cricket, skipping, games and much more on offer.  Local sports providers will be making special guest appearances throughout the summer to give live demonstrations and have a go sessions.

There will always be many free activities, however some activities do incur a small charge. 

Meet on the front field of Clumber Park, just next to the main visitor facilities.  Please bring sensible footwear! This event is on grass and possibly uneven.

The events are weather-permitting and may be cancelled in extreme weather conditions. We advise you to check before setting out to Clumber.  Children of all ages welcome. Dogs on leads welcome. Fully accessible for wheelchair users and buggies

Nottingham Inflatable Fun Days

For the first time ever, Inflatable Family Fun Days, the UK's largest inflatable play area, is coming to Nottingham.  Mellish Rugby Club in Mapperley will be hosting this event on the 29th & 30th of July!  Sessions will start at 10am and 2pm lasting 3 hours all for £7 per child! Pay on the day.  The age range for this event is 2-12 years

This is an outdoor event. Refreshments will be available.  Accompanying adults and car parking are free.  Bumper boats and bungee trampolines are at an additional cost

Grow, Cook and Play Summer Sessions at Bulwell Forest

Come and Join us for family fun at the Garden over the holidays.  There will be gardening activities, food harvesting, cooking in our clay oven and woodland crafts, along with the usual tree climbing and mud kitchen.

Showjumping Day at Coloured Cob Equestrian Centre


A chance to make new friends and enjoy a day with the horses and ponies at Coloured Cobb Equestrian Centre in the beautiful surroundings of Creswell.

Suitable for all levels
Deposit of £10 secures booking.  Take packed lunch or children can eat in their on site cafe.

Sublime Science at Mansfield Museum

Sublime Science - these sessions are free!

Come along to make 'alien slime' and edible 'space dust' with the Dragons Den winning Sublime Science. Watch Gravity being defied and have some amazing science fun.

Make a Puppet Bird at City Arts

Help create feathers for a fleet of fabulous giant flamingos + make a marvellous mini bird puppet to take home. The puppets you will help to create in this fun family-friendly workshop will appear at Nottingham Carnival 2019.

Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy. We will be using lots of glue and glitter!

Summer Holiday Learn to Ride at Clumber Park

Clumber Park's popular learn to ride sessions are back for a summer holiday special.

Each one-off 45 minute session with the very wonderful Graeme, our Bikeability instructor, will introduce you to balance and pedalling techniques to gain confidence to move forward and enable you to develop your ability to cycle.

You will gain the knowledge and skills which you can then take away and use to practice till perfect and our traffic free trails are the perfect place to do so.

Sessions are free and will last for 45 minutes.  Booking is essential. 

Meet at the Cycle Hub. Bring your bike and helmet if you have one.  Clumber does have some balance bikes and helmets which can be borrowed for the sessions.

Bushcraft for Families at Sherwood Forest

Join the rangers for a fun-packed day of bushcraft activities in the woods! Learn shelter building and fire lighting techniques and have a go at a forest craft.

Places are limited so booking is essential.  Suitable for children aged 6+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Summer Safari  at Four Seasons Shopping Centre, Mansfield

Kids will become jungle explorers with our own Safari Chief and go on a trek in search of wild cats and cheeky monkeys! Our Safari animals will leave children in amazement, and with interactive storytelling, crafts and a trail around the centre, they’ll no doubt feel like real mini explorers!

Classic Film - Charade - at Beeston Canalside Heritage Centre

The Canalside Heritage Centre has partnered with Beeston Rylands Community Association to bring you the Classic Film Club. The Classic Film Club takes place fortnightly on a Wednesday afternoon from 2 pm until 4.30 pm and costs £5 per person which includes an interval with light refreshments.

Friday Nights at Sneinton Market

Sneinton Market Avenues is the place to be.  Our Friday Nights events are returning for another successful year of socialising and fun for everyone of all ages. It's an animal-friendly environment too so everyone is welcome.

Nottingham Riverside Festival

Nottingham's fabulous Riverside Festival returns to the Embankment this weekend.  This free festival will offer a huge amount of family-friendly activities, live music, activities on the River Trent, a funfair, a kidszone, food and drink stands and the Saturday night fireworks display.

The Dragon Boat Challenge Nottingham also makes a welcome return with teams battling it out for charity, followed by the annual Duck Race.
