Robin Hood Festival at Sherwood Forest

Expect a week-long celebration of Robin Hood and his Merry friends this week at Sherwood Forest, when the Robin Hood Festival returns for its 35th year.

You'll be able to enjoy live re-enactments, song, dance, storytelling, sword-fighting and archery.  There will be food and drink stalls, craft stands, demonstrations, medieval music, have-a-go archery and lots more family friendly activities.

Libraries outside with Story Parks 

Come along to our fun outdoors library session happening every week at The Forest for StoryParks.

Look out for the giant hedgehog in the community garden.  Each week there will be lots of fun family activities to do such as stories, games, number trails, treasure hunts, colouring, wordsearches and much more! Each week has a different theme: Minibeasts, Dinosaurs, Alice in Wonderland, Wild Animals and Gruffalo.

Have you ever thought it would be super cool to have a special power?  Flying, invisibility, incredible strength, mind reading, super speed.... Or all of them!  Come and train to be the ultimate superhero at our Superhero School this summer.  You will follow our training trail where you will be able to win points, defeat the baddies to earn your very own super powers!

Come dressed for the part, masked and capes are a must!! Suitable for ages 4 - 11

Trail sheets are available for £2 at Visitors Reception

Usual parking charges apply at Rufford Abbey at £4 per day.

Why not challenge friends and family to a shoot out on the archery range, or bring everyone together for a big volleyball, football or rounders match? Tennis, hockey, table tennis, cricket, skipping, games and much more on offer.  Local sports providers will be making special guest appearances throughout the summer to give live demonstrations and have a go sessions.

There will always be many free activities, however some activities do incur a small charge. 

Meet on the front field of Clumber Park, just next to the main visitor facilities.  Please bring sensible footwear! This event is on grass and possibly uneven.

The events are weather-permitting and may be cancelled in extreme weather conditions. We advise you to check before setting out to Clumber.  Children of all ages welcome. Dogs on leads welcome. Fully accessible for wheelchair users and buggies

This summer, play and create together as a family at ZOOM. Have a go at tackling our curtain mini-maze, play games with light, spin your own art, and develop super-sonic hearing. Look in our infinity mirror or experiment with our green screen, and see lots of very strange versions of yourself.

Every visit to ZOOM is different - we have brand-new activities for you to try each week.  Our activities are suitable for all ages. Babies and younger children can join in, and can explore our cosy corner with sensory play activities.

Arnold Play Day at Arnot Hill Park

Gedling Play Forum and Gedling Borough Council present another chance for the under 14s to express themselves through creative and imaginative play.

Gedling Play Forum will provide art & craft activities using materials that would have gone to landfill.  Have a go at the mini skate ramp park in the Park View car park, try your hand at Sherwood Bushcraft skills, join in with the drumming workshop and have your face painted. 

Something for all ages and abilities, so wear your play clothes and be prepared to get very messy!

Join Batman and his friends at Wollaton Hall and celebrate your favourite Superheroes! Dress yourself as Batman, another superhero, or just come as yourself and have a great time! There will be plenty of things to see and do...

Have a super time, with rides, children's entertainers, make and take superhero mask making and special appearances from Batman and his friends, plus lots of other activities for all the family.

Bring your teddy dressed up as a Superhero and enter our best dressed teddy competition! Judging will be at 1pm.

Summer Family Fun Day at the National Ice Centre

There will be loads of family fun at Nottingham's National Ice Centre today. Book a skating ticket and enjoy a host of free activities both on ice and outdoors on their plaza including zorbing on ice, arts & crafts, hockey activities, summer games, St John’s demonstrations, a Segway course, foam archery and much more!

Join them for their first ever zorbing on ice experience by getting inside one of the balls and try to stay on your feet as you are propelled across the ice. You can even make it a race to see who can get to the other side first! Bubble football will also be on the line-up, where you play a game of football as best you can and try to score a goal while zorbing.

They will also have ice hockey try-outs on the ice so you can get a taster of what it’s like to be a Nottingham Panthers player! Drop in to try your hand at different aspects of the sport, such as using sticks, controlling the puck, and even shooting. There will also be a visit from Nottingham Panthers mascot Paws from 2pm onwards.

Their DJ will be playing tunes on the ice and their new photo-booth will be in action next to the rink, loaded with summery filters for the perfect souvenir.

Adrenaline Jungle will be joining the activities outside on  Bolero Square, bringing foam archery equipment for you to try out and Segways so you can zip around a course our plaza like never before. Their helpful and friendly staff will be on site to help your little ones learn techniques safely while having a fun time.

St John’s Ambulance and the Nottinghamshire emergency services will also be there to teach your little ones about the importance of the services with a chance to meet some staff, sit inside a Fire truck and see the vehicles close-up, before attending CPR and basic first aid from demonstrations for life saving skills.

With a big focus on education as well as fun, White Post Farm will be joining them with educational talks about their different animals; perfect for inner city children to learn about animals and nature they otherwise wouldn’t encounter.

The Plaza will also be taken over by a whole host of summer activities such as family games, a spot from Nottingham Casuals Rugby, a giant BBQ and ping pong tables, with face painting and arts & crafts also available on the day for the ultimate summer day.

Sneinton Stirred Up
Sneinton Market Plaza, Nottingham

Enjoy a weekend of music and arts hosted by City Arts and in collaboration with Nottingham Street Food Club.   The festival aims to bring people together to enjoy a range of talent ranging from music, performance and comedy, art, creative workshops and most importantly, a huge range of food!  There will be family-friendly workshops, including mask making and puppetry, a carnival parade on Saturday and a street party on Sunday with a range of eccletic performances.
